Modified Bitumen Roof Sytems are strong, durable roof systems that are more resistant to punctures They are comprised of asphalt and reinforced with fiberglass or polyester. They can be assembled in various layer combinations in order to provide protection from the elements including extreme heat or cold, water, and wind lift.
Modified Bitumen Roof Systems meet building code and insurance requirements, provide ensured performance and durability, can be customized to specific needs, and provides exceptional strength.
These roof systems vary in installation based on the polymer sheet that is chosen for the job. SBS is a polymer that is similar to rubber and installed using either hot asphalt or cold adhesives. APP, on the other hand, is what is known as a thermoplastic polymer and it is normally installed with the torch method. Depending upon your specific needs, JRS will determine which method would be best for your roof.
Built-Up Roof (BUR)
A Built-Up Roof System is one that is comprised of multiple layers of roofing felts and fabrics and totally saturated with tar or asphalt. The roof surface can then be covered with a weather resistant covering, an application of gravel or a mineral cap sheet to protect the roof from the elements and help it to resist weathering. Built-Up Roof Systems are one of the oldest methods that are still widely used in commercial roofing today.
